TWO QUALITY LABELS FOR SAFE TRAVEL DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

In partnership with the Vienna Economic Chamber, the Vienna Tourist Board developed the Safe Stay safety seal specifically for the capital’s accommodation sector. The capital’s hotels are taking health and safety standards for guests to new levels with a raft of targeted measures across six categories. Hotels can display the Safe Stay seal in the entrance area and in their advertising materials to show guests that they are observing these strict measures. Compliance with the label’s criteria is monitored by the Vienna Tourist Board. A total of 57 accommodations had achieved certification as of December 31, 2020.  As the official destination marketing and management organization for Vienna, the Vienna Tourist Board is participating in the first global Safe Travels safety label initiative on behalf of the entire tourism sector.

It was set up by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), a London-based organization dedicated to promoting the sustainable growth of tourism, with the support of government experts, professional associations and the UN World Tourism Organization.

SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR BUSINESS EVENTS

To help organizers of meetings and congresses to the fullest extent possible, the Vienna Tourist Board’s Vienna Convention Bureau teamed up with Prof. Hans-Peter Hutter from MedUni Vienna and representatives of the Vienna meeting industry to create a set of guidelines entitled Recommendations on Preventing Transmission of Covid-19 at Business Events. The ten-page document covers all the areas that need to be included in a custom Covid-19 prevention plan – from risk analysis and minimizing the risk of transmission, to training staff and what to do if a suspected case arises.
