Nothing’s as it was. For many decades, Vienna has been the driving force behind tourism in Austria: in the ten years before the pandemic alone, the number of overnight stays rose three times more sharply in the capital than the national average. But now the city tourism segment, which is heavily influenced by international visitors, is globally having to deal with dramatic declines due to Covid-19 – and Vienna is no exception. But complaining or giving up simply isn’t an option.
The Vienna Tourist Board launched its response to the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, devising a reactivation plan and various strategies designed to help it to return to full swing once the crisis is over.
